Sinclair Radionics Ltd was founded in 1961 by Clive Sinclair in Cambridge, England. The company produced calculators, HiFi equipment and scientific instruments. In 1978, the Sinclair company Science of Cambridge Ltd started selling a computer kit, the MK-14. This kit was followed by the ZX-80 in 1980 and later the ZX-81. In 1983 the first ZX Spectrum was presented. The company was renamed to Sinclair Research Ltd in 1981. The Sinclair computers were also sold under license by the Timex Corporation in the US under the Timex Sinclair brand.
